Described by the Daily Forward as “an exuberantly gifted cellist,” Gwen Krosnick has appeared across the world as a joyous communicator and evangelist for music. As a chamber musician, teacher, and concert presenter, Krosnick aims to creates space for people to connect and react; champions contemporary music she loves; and encourages a vibrant, thoughtful dialogue between great pieces of music, old and new.

Highlights of Krosnick’s current and recent seasons include recitals across the East Coast and Midwest with pianists Qing Jiang, Daniel Walden, and Lee Dionne, performing the music of composers from Brahms and Poulenc to Elliot Carter, Ralph Shapey, and Lei Liang; and playing the complete Beethoven string quartets – shared in chronological order, with contemporary works alongside – on the concert series she presents at the Pucker Art Gallery in Boston. Away from the cello, Krosnick’s focus echoes her joyously-varied musical life: she is an accomplished home cook, a 200-hour-trained practitioner of yoga, and parent to Anya, her beloved Australian Shepherd rescue dog.

A passionate teacher, Krosnick served as Visiting Instructor of Cello at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Krosnick holds degrees from the New England and Oberlin Conservatories and from Oberlin College (a BA in Russian). She has studied with Natasha Brofsky, Darrett Adkins, Laurie Smukler, Vivian Weilerstein, and Seymour Lipkin. She is a longtime alumna of Greenwood Music Camp and Yellow Barn; and of Kneisel Hall, whose faculty she joins in 2019.
